Its scope and strategic position give the Pont de Rungis site great potential for developing the Greater Paris metropolitan area. At the very centre of the Orly-Rungis hub, it is part of a particularly dynamic economic area benefitting from the flow generated by the Orly airport, the Rungis Market of National Interest, and the commercial hub of the southern Ile-de-France urban area. Its accessibility by all modes of transportation will be further improved by the extension of Metro Line 14. These many assets represent opportunities for inventing a new, innovative and attractive district on this unrestrictive site.

This site, which belongs to the municipality of Thiais and Orly, is located on the border with the municipalities of Rungis and Chevilly-Larue, at the centre of the Orly-Rungis economic hub.
It is situated in an area which has been dedicated to economic activities since the 1960s, which is home to many logistics and commercial centres, including the "Belle Epine" shopping centre. The SOGARIS logistics platform and the Rungis National Interest Market (M.I.N) are located northwest of the Pont de Rungis, while the Orly airport complex is located to the south.
The site is served by the RER C and the Orlyval shuttle bus, which passes through the "Pont de Rungis-Aéroport d'Orly" station, linking it with both Paris and the Orly airport. Local service is also provided by T7 Tram (from Paris in Athis Mons), the TVM (from Créteil in the Vallée de la Bièvre) and by 5 bus lines, day and night. The site benefits from a TGV high-speed train connection as well. In 2024, the "Pont de Rungis-Aéroport d'Orly" station will be included in the extension of Metro line 14.
Several large-scale projects are currently in development in the site's immediate surroundings: the Rungis Market (M.I.N) Cité de la Gastronomie, the airport expansion and the Coeur d'Orly project, the modernisation of the SOGARIS platform, and four operations, primarily for housing, in neighbouring municipalities.
